The portrait photography above was just a spontaneous snapshot after dinner. We had a typical meal at a place in Otis which is a form of an archetype of an American diner where the waitress calls you „Honey“ when she asks you whether you want a coffee refill.
During my stay in Oregon, I was documenting many daily life situations. I made a whole series of my friend Berry working in his gardening service or playing with his band „JaSkaMon“. Still, this very picture is iconic to me and my time in Oregon. I took this photo almost at the very end of my visit, so my friends were already used to the situation that I constantly point my camera at them.
Because of that, Berry gave absolutely no attention to the camera. I guess he even expected me to take a picture of the sundown, but instead, I focused on him and took this picture of a man meaningfully starring in the sundown.
